We are delighted to announce that Shoreham Port’s Operations team has successfully achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification for occupational health and safety management systems. This internationally recognised standard, awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI), validates our commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment for all our colleagues, as well as for our commercial vessel partners handling inbound and outbound goods.
ISO 45001 provides a globally recognised framework for managing workplace safety and enhancing occupational health performance. The certification, following a rigorous and independent audit process, not only underscores our dedication to reducing work-related risks but also reinforces our ongoing commitment to improving health and safety across our operations.
As a Trust Port with a 265-year history of delivering value to our local community, we remain steadfast in our purpose to ‘improve our port for everyone’. First and foremost, the leading objective of our Masterplan is to ensure that everyone goes ‘home safe and well daily’ - a principle that guides every decision we make. This certification directly supports that aim, reinforcing our commitment to protecting the wellbeing of our team and all who interact with the Port. It also reflects our award-winning values: going ‘all in’ to deliver safe and efficient operations; ‘owning it’ by holding ourselves accountable to high standards; and acting in a ‘fair’ way, with integrity and ethics at all times.
Nicky Brown, Safety, Operations & Logistics Director commented “Certification to ISO 45001 reflects our dedication to the health and safety of everyone involved in our operations at Shoreham Port. It reinforces the high standards we set for ourselves and our focus on delivering safe, efficient services to our customers.”
Nicky continued “Achieving certification to ISO 45001 is a credit to our Safety and Operations team and clearly demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and strong organisational performance. The team should be proud of the challenging work that has gone into implementing a system that proactively manages health and safety risks, strengthens compliance, and fosters a safer, more resilient workplace. It’s a clear example of how we put our people, partners, and community first in everything we do.”
Matt Page, Senior Vice President, Assurance Services EMEA at BSI commented "Prioritizing people’s health and safety can help people to flourish and organizations to improve overall performance. Congratulations to Shoreham Port’s Operations team on achieving ISO 45001:2018, a certification that reflects their commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, not just for their employees, but for all stakeholders involved."
