Anonymously report a Ghost Gear sighting

Ghost gear is fishing gear that is either abandoned, lost, or discarded at sea. This gear can continue trapping marine life, damaging ecosystems, and posing dangers to other sea users.

Most ghost gear is lost due to unexpected events such as snagging on underwater obstacles, entanglement with other fishing gear, severe weather, or accidental cutting by crossing marine traffic.

Ghost Fishing UK, an award-winning charity, work to recover ghost gear from our waters. Their trained volunteer divers work to retrieve and responsibly dispose of lost gear, often a challenging and difficult task.

If you've come across ghost gear while out at sea, you can report it anonymously through the Ghost Fishing UK Fishing Community Lost Gear Report Form. These reports contribute to a vital data set, helping the charity locate and recover dangerous debris.
