We are delighted to have been awarded the Large Business of the Year award in the 2026 Brighton & Hove Business Awards, recognising our ongoing commitment to ‘improving our Trust Port for everyone’.
Established in 2004, the Brighton & Hove Business Awards have become one of the city’s biggest celebrations of business excellence, recognising outstanding achievement, innovation, growth, leadership and contribution to the wider community.
Brighton & Hove’s business community came together in spectacular style as the winners of the 2026 Brighton & Hove Business Awards were revealed at The Grand Hotel on October 1st. The evening brought together businesses, entrepreneurs and leading figures from across the city for a night celebrating everything that makes the city’s business community so special.
There were celebrations across eighteen categories. We were thrilled to take to the stage and collect the Large Business of the Year award. We were recognised for demonstrating outstanding achievements in all aspects of our organisation. Highlights included our safety performance, which is a constant priority in a high-risk industrial environment, record breaking turnover for the fifth consecutive year, a 31% reduction in our carbon emissions, diversification into new business streams and continued delivery against our diversity and inclusion ambitions. We also shared some of our recent innovative projects, such as the launch of ‘Southwick Reef’, the UK’s largest living seawall – installed in the Port and designed to protect and grow marine biodiversity. Finally, we shared the success of our community outreach and school engagement, alongside our apprenticeship scheme, which is growing year on year.
Tom Willis, Chief Executive commented: “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. As a Trust Port every penny we make goes back into developing our organisation, for the benefit of users of the Port and the communities we serve. I would like to thank colleagues and partner organisations who have worked so hard to enable this achievement”.
Our category was sponsored by Allica Bank. The winners for each category were selected following an intensive judging process involving an experienced panel of business leaders and representatives from organisations. John Feldmanis, New Business Relationship Manager for Allica Bank commented: “I was so impressed after visiting the Port and you were very much worthy winners in a tough category, with lots of good entries”.
Fiona Graves, Events Director at Platinum Media Group, said: “The energy in the room was incredible. What really stood out was the sense of unity – businesses from across the city genuinely supporting and celebrating each other. Congratulations to all our finalists and winners, who once again showed just how much talent, ambition and entrepreneurial spirit we have in the city.”
We would like to congratulate the other worthy finalists in our category, which were ForLoop, Lucy & Yak, One Garden Brighton, Seed Publicity and Snap Finger Click.
