About Shoreham Port
Shoreham Port operates 24/7 365 days of the year within a fascinating and complex marine environment, where no two days are the same! Our Port is ideally situated on the south coast of England to offer support to vessels, owners, agents and crews using one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Our Marine team offer a range of maritime services to merchant and fishing vessels, as well as bed levelling, towage support and diving services. The role of Marine Pilot is to safely navigate and operate various types of vessels visiting the Port.
Key Skills
- Class II/2 Certificate of Competency (or above).
- Knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code.
- Sound judgement and effective decision
making. - Understanding of a Local Port Service.
- Ability to act with authority when required.
- Basic IT skills.
- Previous ship handling experience desirable,
but not essential.
Key Tasks
- Carry out acts of pilotage.
- Oversee safety of navigation.
- Schedule commercial ship movements.
- Attend to the heart of Marine operations - Shoreham Harbour Radio.
- Conducting incident investigations
