4 April 2014
On Sunday 6th April Shoreham Port will open its gates to the triumphant runners of the Brighton Marathon. On the day, Basin Road South will be closed to traffic from 0700 - 1700 hours where the road will form part of the course.
Shoreham Port has hosted the Brighton Marathon and Half Marathon since 2010. Each year port staff help over the weekend to prepare the Port for the many thousands of runners that are expected to pound the pavements during the gruelling 26.2 miles!
The team at Shoreham Port will also be on the side lines cheering on their colleague, Property Manager Tim Hague as he embarks on his first marathon attempt. Tim commented “I’m nervous but looking forward to the atmosphere and of course the finish line of this fantastic local event!”
As well as being the ultimate test of endurance, the Brighton Marathon is also a major fundraising event, raising significant amounts of money for many charities in and around Brighton and Hove. Shoreham Port has proudly sponsored Tim who is running on behalf of Cancer Research.
