We are committed to supporting our local community during the Covid-19 pandemic, therefore we have created this page to share useful information with our stakeholders, such as details of food delivery services and Mutual Aid Groups. How we can help

We continue to reach out to vulnerable members of our community as part of our Covid-19 Response and stand ready to help with deliveries and collections of prescriptions. Please email us on or call us 01273 598 100, between 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday if we can be of any assitance during this time. 

Emergency supplies/food banks

  • Fishersgate Food bank is open every Tuesday 10am-noon during the crisis. LIGHTHOUSE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 54 ST AUBYN’S RD, BN41 1PE. If possible, please email or call ahead: - or 07719 434747 - if you can’t, feel free to just turn up.
  • Up-to-date information on local foodbanks that are opening or can offer deliveries can be found here.
  • B&H Food Partnership also offer advice if you are isolated, hungry and need support (or you want to assist those in need during the pandemic) here.

Food delivery & online services 

Many of the varied businesses who operate from, or near Shoreham Port are offering food deliveries and online services in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Please find details of what’s available below:

Food suppliers 

  • Cob & Co - local veg box delivery:
  • Nutritious Fish - local online sustainable fishmonger:
  • Brighton and Newhaven Fish Sales are providing free delivery of fish to the over 70s, find out more here or call them on 01273 414 707.
  • The Cheese Hut, in Hove, Basin Road South has a range of cheese, milk, eggs, bacon, ham and bread available. Please contact them on 01273 789107 or for details (currently collection).
  • Brighton Meat Express are offering free delivery on packs of meat – they are located in Hollingbury and they will deliver as far west as Worthing, east to Seaford and north to Burgess Hill. Order online or call 01273 258 208.
  • The Cheeseman is still providing food, and currently working on a possible delivery service - find out more here
  • Brighton Quarantine Delivery lists independent shops delivering during the coronavirus crisis here

Please bear in mind that some providers may not be operating as usual in light of the new government restrictions – please confirm delivery/opening with them wherever possible.

Mutual Aid Groups

Many people have joined community efforts across the country, forming ‘Mutual Aid Groups’ to help look after the most vulnerable in society by volunteering to deliver essential supplies during the outbreak.

Other local support groups 

  • The Coronavirus Sussex Crisis Fund has been set up to help local organisations help others in need. More information at
  • ACORN has been established to assist vulnerable people in isolation during the virus outbreak with essential shopping and deliveries: visit their website or call them 07947 524226.

NHS Volunteer Responders 

  • NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak - if you would like to join their army of volunteers then please visit the website to sign up today:

Viral Kindness Campaign  

A ‘Viral Kindness’ campaign has been set up by members of the public allowing neighbours to share cards listing their services with those unable to get out for essential supplies. Find out more about this campaign or download a postcard to share here.
