  • Position: Operations Deputy Supervisor
  • Salary: £34, 914 per annum

Description

This is a great opportunity for any colleague who wishes to take their first supported steps into management. The primary focus of the role is to deputise for the Operations Supervisor and continuously support the front-line supervision and leadership of Port Operatives and agency workers. You will deliver a safe, efficient, and high performing operation both on the operations terminals and on allocated vessels. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Provide effective and proactive front-line supervision to Port Operatives and Agency Workers and escalate performance management.
  • Ensure your team are carrying out their duties safely and efficiently and actively promote improvement opportunities.
  • Comply with the roles and responsibilities of Local Management as outlined in our Health and Safety Policy.
  • Promote a positive and proactive Health and Safety culture, leading by example.
  • Monitor and maximise performance of vessels and terminal operations.
  • Coordinate, prioritise, supervise, and assist with operational activities.
  • Monitor and train new colleagues
  • Support Operations Management with monitoring performance and operational matters, including toolbox talks, team briefs, timekeeping, return to work interviews.
  • Liaise with visiting customers and proactively respond to requirements
  • Adhere to company safety policies
  • Port Operative duties as outlined in the Port Operative job description and any other duties as directed

Key Skills 

  • Ability to lead and brief a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organisation
  • Previous logistics experience
  • A proactive approach to Health and Safety in a high risk environment
  • IOSH Managing Safely and qualified First Aider (or must achieve qualifications within 6 months of being in role)
  • Familiarity of crane and hoist operations advantageous
  • Highly motivated individual with attention to detail
  • Willingness to train on all types of port plant and machinery
  • Physically fit as necessary to perform the job duties
  • Flexible attitude to working
  • IT literate: PC and mobile devices
  • Full driving license
