15/08/2019 - Basin Road South, beach

We are carrying out some essential coast protection work along Basin Road South in front of Barrett Steel and Tarmac/Hanson. Whilst it is not possible to 'close' the beach completely we have placed fencing and signs to make clear where the work is going on. All members of the public are asked to keep away from the area as much as possible, paying particular attention to dogs and children in the area. There is very heavy plant operating continuously, placing large unstable rocks with limited visibility. Thanks for your cooperation.

14/10/2019 - Southwick Beach Outer Layby Service Road Closure due to Shingle Replenishment to Southwick Beach

Please be aware that the Southwick Beach Outer Layby Service Road and the beach itself will be shut to the public for approximately 2 weeks, commencing on Monday 14th October. Over this time there will be an increase in vehicle traffic along South Basin Road.

This is due to carrying out biannual beach replenishment works that require transporting shingle from West Beach and moving it by road to the Eastern Breakwater and Southwick Beach. This ensures the protection of our coastline.

For more information about the shingle transfer process and why this is carried out please visit our webpage: https://www.shoreham-port.co.uk/Shingle-Bypassing
