Shoreham Port thanks Sir Alan Massey and welcomes maritime expert Phil Buckley to Board

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Buckley as a Non-Executive Director of the Board, bringing extensive seagoing leadership and deep expertise in marine governance, safety and blue economy development to support the Port’s long-term purpose as a Trust Port.

Phil has built a distinguished career across senior maritime roles, with a track record in operational leadership, risk management and shaping strategic pathways for sustainable marine growth. His experience includes service as a Royal Navy Captain and roles as Chief Operating Officer Ports of Jersey and Harbour Master Port of Southampton, which align closely with Shoreham Port’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

“I’m delighted to be joining Shoreham Port as a Non-Executive Director,” says Phil, “and look forward to bringing my experience to a Trust Port with such a strong sense of purpose.”

Board Chair Catherine May commented on the appointment: “We are very pleased to welcome Phil to the board. His breadth of maritime experience and insight into the blue economy, governance and marine risk will complement the skills of our existing board members supporting our future ambitions.”

This January, Shoreham Port also says thank you to Sir Alan Massey, Non-Executive Director, who is leaving the Board after a successful six year term. During this time, he has offered invaluable support and guidance as the Port has continued to evolve. Reflecting on his departure, Catherine May added: “All of us at Shoreham Port, especially the board members, will miss Sir Alan’s insight and counsel. He has been an invaluable director, and we have benefited greatly from his insight into marine leadership, risk and safety in the port setting. I would like to thank him for his contributions over six years of outstanding service.”
