Ringmer Education for Adults with Learning Difficulties (REALD) braved the winds yesterday to enjoy a ride on Shoreham Port’s tug ‘Adurni’. The group sailed down the canal passing a number of the Port’s tenants in Waterside House and Hove Enterprise Centre before turning in the basin, and returning up the opposite side of the canal to get a close view of the action on the terminals.
With a number of ships discharging various cargos, the group were able to see how busy the Port is and the type of equipment needed to carry out the work. REALD are based in Ringmer, with a few of their members living nearby in East Sussex. The group have visited the Port since 2008 for their annual tug trip. Andy Marzetti from REALD commented “Shoreham Port are so accommodating when we visit, the residents have a memorable experience and look forward to the opportunity of returning the following year”.
Andy continued “The group we brought to the Port this week are studying transport and the trip on the tug is without a doubt the highlight of their transport calendar. Thank you to the staff at Shoreham Port who organised the trip yesterday, we really appreciate the effort and time that goes into these trips and look forward to our next visit”.
