When Shoreham Port were approached by Adur Sailing Club regarding fundraising for a new safety boat, the team were eager to get involved and see how they could assist, especially with the club being situated so close to the Port.
Adur Sailing Club is co-located with the Shoreham Sailing Club at the mouth of the river Adur on Shoreham Beach. The club is very grateful for the kindness and generosity of the members of Shoreham Sailing Club who have allowed them to share their facilities and continue sailing after the closure of their previous base at the Adur Outdoor Activity Centre in 2015.
Adur Sailing Club is a Royal Yachting Association registered training centre, providing an environment where anyone over the age of ten can learn to sail or develop their sailing skills. The club is run like a youth club on the water, with all the necessary equipment provided.
Shoreham Port is a big supporter of the Adur Sailing Club and is pleased to have provided a donation to help fund Adur Ribellion, the clubs new safety boat, as well as providing a secure container to store her in.
Chris Lilley, Assistant Sailing Master at Adur Sailing Club commented “I help organise training for all our children. The generous support of Shoreham Port has allowed us to buy our new RIB, which we christened ‘Adur Ribellion’. The boat has transformed what we can offer to all the local children at our club, we are very grateful, thank you Shoreham Port!”
Katie MacAllister, Marketing & Communications Manager at Shoreham Port commented “We are delighted to provide this support to Adur Sailing Club. The club offers a fantastic opportunity for children to learn how to sail in a supportive and fun environment. The RIB has already made a great difference to the club and I am sure it will be an invaluable asset to the club for years to come.”
