In April Shoreham Port donated £3,000 to St. Peter’s Community Primary School in Portslade to help fund the school’s new outdoor play area. This month Shoreham Port re-visited St Peter’s School for the official cheque handover.

As part of Shoreham Port’s stakeholder benefit scheme, the Port aims to support as many school’s as possible in the local area. St Peter’s School contacted Shoreham Port at the beginning of the year to discuss their ambitious plans to re-develop their outdoor play area.

Shoreham Port were delighted to offer their support and are thrilled with the outcome of the work. Peter Davies, Development Director at Shoreham Port commented “The Port is keen to support community projects and groups in Portslade where we can. We are really pleased to be able to help St Peters with their latest project and hope to build a lasting relationship with the school. It’s an exciting time for the School with their new building and now with a new playground. It sounds like the kids can’t stay away!”

Michele Lawrie, Headteacher at St Peter’s Community Primary School added “The children really love the new play area. It is used before school starts in the morning and at the end of the day. The new climbing equipment is great exercise for the children, encouraging many into sports like gymnastics. We are all extremely grateful to Shoreham Port for funding this for us. The play area will be enjoyed by so many children, for years to come.”
