Shoreham Port were delighted to be shortlisted and win an award at the 2011 Adur and Worthing Business Awards ceremony on Saturday. This was the Port’s first win, in the Medium to Large Business of the Year category, on the basis of their significant development and investment over the past year.
Shoreham Port is a thriving, diverse niche port with excellent infrastructure and facilities. It stretches from Hove Lagoon to Shoreham Airport and contributes significantly to the local economy by providing jobs and supporting local businesses. The application explained the diverse range of cargoes Shoreham Port handles and the recent surge in new customers selecting Shoreham Port as their Port of choice. Other key points highlighted in their application included Shoreham Port’s thriving business community, with a property portfolio currently at 100% occupancy and significant investments in equipment and staff to support Port operations.
Shoreham Port’s application revealed aspirations for the coming year including its aim to become recognised as a green Port and to become a key location for renewable energy. Shoreham Port also provided their Port Masterplan and five year Business Plan to show the direction and plans for developments over the coming years.
Shoreham Port’s application impressed the judges and the Port was shortlisted. Shoreham Port’s Development Director and Finance Director attended the awards ceremony at the weekend and were extremely pleased to find that Shoreham Port had won the award.
