3 May 2019

The Port’s popular annual Public Meeting will be taking place on Tuesday 21st May this year at The Barn Theatre in Southwick. Light refreshments will be available from 6pm, with the presentation commencing at 6:30pm. This is an open event, and attendees do not need a ticket to attend.

The presentation, delivered by Shoreham Port’s Chief Executive, Rodney Lunn, will cover all aspects of the Port, from 2018’s performance and exciting plans for the year ahead, through to community support and engagement. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with the Port’s Senior Leadership Team, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to voice their views and provide important feedback; a key driver of the Public Meeting.

There will be updates from all Port departments, such as the Marine team who have welcomed the delivery of the Port’s new tug boat Acamar, and celebrated becoming the UK’s #1 Scallop port in 2018, with 18% of scallop landed in the UK by UK fishing vessels arriving at Shoreham Port.

Meanwhile, the Port’s commercial Property estate continues to grow, with the addition of new business units at Lady Bee Enterprise Centre that will increase renewable energy and jobs, as well as the long-awaited refurbishment of Britannia Wharf; both of which are due for completion within the coming months.

The Operations department set a new record of over 450,000 m3 of timber handled by their committed and dedicated staff in 2018, ensuring that Shoreham remains a premium port for forest products.

The Port’s commitment to tackling climate change lead to the appointment of the UK’s Ports first Director of Infrastructure and Climate Change earlier this year, and the recertification of their Eco Port status.

Continuous efforts are being made by the Engineering team at Shoreham Port to protect the coastal area, with the Port engaging in a joint effort with Brighton and Hove City and Adur District Council to construct higher sea defences eastward along the coastline.

Attendees can also learn about Shoreham Port’s Trust Port status and the community support and stakeholder engagement activities they offer throughout the year – including their popular boat tours. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to obtain a copy of the Port’s newly published Annual Report.
