At Shoreham Port we offer a variety of support to colleagues who are experiencing challenging moments in their lives. This includes supporting colleagues impacted by pregnancy loss. We are proud to have signed up to the Miscarriage Association workplace Pregnancy Loss Pledge.
To be able to take the pledge, an organisation must be able to demonstrate the various approaches and policies they have in place to support someone impacted by pregnancy loss.
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting colleague well-being, we recognise that pregnancy loss impacts both women and men and so offer all colleagues compassionate and individual support.
As an active member of the Diversity in Maritime programme, our team is wholeheartedly committed to building an employment culture that actively supports diversity, at all levels, throughout our organisation, and the wider maritime industry.
Alison Burstow, People Manager at Shoreham Port commented “I am very proud to share that Shoreham Port has made this commitment to our colleagues. Unfortunately, the topic of miscarriage is often off-limits, but we want colleagues, women, and men, to be able to approach us at a time when they may need support the most.”
Chrissie Clarke, Head of People Programmes and Operations at Maritime UK commented “I applaud Shoreham Port for signing the workplace Pregnancy Loss Pledge during National Inclusion Week. Miscarriage should not be a taboo subject and this Pledge is a great stepping-stone to ensuring employees are supported through a time of grief and change without feeling isolated in the workplace. Let’s hope we see more maritime organisations and ports sign the Pledge.”
