Shoreham Port has been named amongst the best in the UK’s £40bn maritime sector after being shortlisted in the third Maritime UK Awards.
The Maritime UK Awards are an excellent opportunity for the industry to come together, showcase achievements and celebrate all things maritime.
We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the Best Employer category after impressing industry judges with our commitment to safeguarding and creating jobs, looking after the wellbeing of colleagues, and increasing revenue through new services. This category celebrates organisations that focus on building a supportive and engaging working environment, the culture created for colleagues, contribution to the community, and vision for the future.
Tom Willis, Chief Executive at Shoreham Port said: “We have a fantastic team of people at Shoreham Port, who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to keep the Port operational for our customers. Winning such prestigious recognition would effectively acknowledge and praise the dedication of our colleagues”
“As the maritime sector continues to evolve, winning Employer of the Year would support our ambitions to create more quality local jobs in a truly people-focused working environment. As the Port grows, this award would help attract new people to an exciting industry; challenging us to continue on our mission to ‘improve the Port for everyone.”
Sarah Kenny, Chair of Maritime UK said: “We were absolutely blown away by the number and quality of submissions this year. Organisations and individuals across the breadth of the maritime sector are making significant progress toward our shared Maritime 2050 ambitions, and this is certainly an exciting time to be in the maritime sector.
“Maritime is a sector that is now being recognised as critical to the country’s prosperity, sustainability, resilience and future. I’d like to congratulate everyone that entered the awards, and in particular, our finalists, who the judges really feel are leading our sector forward.”
The Maritime UK Awards recognise the very best of the UK’s maritime sector, and are organised by industry, for the benefit of the industry. For the second time, the Department for Transport’s Clean Maritime Awards are to be awarded as part of the ceremony.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Glasgow Science Centre on 10th March 2022.
