Shoreham Port has again demonstrated its commitment to meeting the requirements of a succession of new business ventures and existing customers through investing €1.5 million in a new Sennebogen Mobile Crane.

The Sennebogen 880 Materials Handling crane arrived on 20th June from Germany on 7 lorries. Over the last week the team from Sennebogen constructed and tested the crane before handing over to the Operations Division.

The new crane has been specifically designed to meet Shoreham’s business needs.  It has a state of the art driver’s cab with airline cockpit like seats, controls, air conditioning and high-tech computer controlled management systems to ensure maximum efficiency in operations.

The crane will be used for handling all types of cargo imported and exported from Shoreham giving improved discharge and load rates. The crane has a capacity to lift 30 tonnes, with a maximum reach of 24 metres and weighs approximately 181 tonnes (the equivalent of more than one hundred family saloon cars). This latest machine compliments Shoreham’s other three Sennebogen Material Handlers. The picture is of the cranes first discharge, of steel sheet pile for ArcelorMittal.

Alan Motterham, Commercial/Operations Director said “Shoreham Port’s diversification has not only resulted in investment in new equipment, but it has also triggered a series of recruitment campaigns to manage the additional business. Shoreham Port aims to continue to look for new business and to invest in the future”.
