Over thirty members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Matrics Sussex group enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of Shoreham Port this week.
RICS Matrics Sussex are the local representatives for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ newly qualified, trainees and student members. The organisation provides a network for local surveyors and aim to raise the profile of surveying as a varied and rewarding career path.
The RICS Sussex Matrics members met in Shoreham Port’s newly refurbished Visitor Centre before partaking in a guided tour around the Port, led by Shoreham Port’s Director of Property & Development, Tim Hague and Property Manager, Helen English.
The group visited areas usually inaccessible to the public including Brighton Terminal, the Power Station Quay and the Outer Lay By, followed by the opportunity to network and catch up with fellow members back in the Visitor Centre.
Rebecca Lewes RICS Matrics Sussex’s Chairperson commented “Shoreham Port hosted an informative and interesting ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour of their estate for us. We gained a first-hand insight into one of the area’s most diverse estates and are really appreciative of how on-board the Port were to support us with this. There was a strong appetite for this event from our property professional members which is a testament to what the Port are trying to achieve and the importance they play in our local built environment.”
Helen English, Property Manager at Shoreham Port commented “It was a pleasure to host the latest RICS Matrics Sussex event and to share with the group the many exciting developments we have in the pipeline. It was great to see so many people in attendance and we were really pleased with the positive feedback following the tour.”
