As Shoreham Port continues to strengthen its involvement with the local community, it was very keen to support Southwick Green Community Team in their goal of installing a new playground for children in the Southwick area.

The team need to raise a total of £100,000 to install a play area that is extra special and will serve the community for at least the next twenty years. The Port has made a donation to contribute towards this.

“The existing play area on Southwick Green is in desperate need of updating” commented Melanie Prior from the Southwick Green Community Team. “We want to make the playground upgrade the best we possibly can and the extra support from Shoreham Port will make a huge difference.

Melanie continued “We are extremely grateful to Shoreham Port for their generous donation, which means we can get an additional piece of play equipment for the new play area.”

Clive Bramble, also from the Community Team added “The funding is fantastic as we are hoping to finalise the project designs over the next few weeks. With the project designs complete we will then be able to receive feedback from the local children of Glebe Primary School and finalise the plans.”

“The Port has many exciting community based projects lined up over the next few months and we are delighted to include Southwick Green Community Team in our plans to work with our local community” commented Sara Bassett, Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive at Shoreham Port.

Southwick Green Community Team would love to hear from any other businesses or individuals who might be able to help them fund an even better play area for the children of Southwick. You can find out the team’s latest news and contact details via their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SGCT14.
