Shoreham Port welcomed Peter James the Brighton based International Crime novelist to stage an event to launch his latest novel ‘Dead Man’s Grip’.

Staff at Shoreham Port have been involved with months of preparation to enact a key scene from the book. Peter was thrilled at the prospect of being able to perform the stunt in the harbour involving the Port’s dive team and crane. Sussex Police divers were also on hand to lend further suspense and authenticity.

The atmosphere was tense amongst the specially invited audience as they watched a body being lifted out of the water in a transit van. Moments later the body was revealed to be Peter James himself, alive and well, who addressed the crowd with praise for the Port, the Police and his own dedicated team, including publishers Pan Macmillan and Midas PR. Drinks and canapés were served in one of the Port’s huge timber sheds whilst Peter signed copies of his novel sold by City Books.

Rodney Lunn, Chief Executive said “we were delighted that Peter chose Shoreham Port as the setting to promote his latest book and our guys did a great job of making it a fantastic spectacle. Shoreham Port has a good working relationship with Sussex Police Divers and it was good to demonstrate this along with the talents of our engineering and operations team.”
