Shoreham Port’s latest video series has concluded this summer, after six weeks of insightful videos exploring the varied departments and activities of the busy South-coast port. The series, which was released over the months of July and August, gained over 5,000 views across the Port’s social media platforms, and was created to provide their valued community a virtual alternative to their much-loved Boat Tours which unfortunately could not go ahead this year.
The series kicked off in July in celebration of Maritime Safety Week, and featured views from the Port’s canal via the tug boat Acamar, inside Shoreham Harbour Radio, and further out to sea in the Pilot cutter vessels, as well as drone footage and time-lapses of the Port’s Operations team hard at work unloading and loading a variety of cargoes on the quayside. Viewers are also able to take a virtual tour around the Port’s extensive property portfolio and later learn all about the Port’s sustainable initiatives, such as their involvement with the Brighton and Lewes Downs Biosphere Partnership, and goals to reach net-zero air quality emissions by 2021 and carbon emissions by 2030.
Meanwhile the series also shone a light on the Port’s Trust Ports status and involvement in community initiatives and partnerships, such as the Port’s recent commitment to the significant annual donation of £20,000 to Shoreham Academy’s Gateway Centre for the next five years, and their new partnership with the Dolphin Project, who are due to base their education centre at the Port.
Kate Tyrer, Communications Executive commented “We have really missed welcoming our local community to Shoreham Port this year, but we wanted to make sure that our stakeholders still got a glimpse into what goes on behind-the-scenes at the Port . We’ve received fantastic feedback via our social media in response to the series and look forward to sharing more photos and videos of the Port.
Kate continued “If you’ve missed any of our latest videos, be sure to check out our Facebook page or Youtube channel to find the full playlist of all of the series. We’ve got exciting plans in the works for Port events in 2021 and beyond, so make sure to keep following us via social media channels to stay updated with our latest news!”
