With record snow falls in the local area on Wednesday night, Shoreham Port remained open and operational throughout.

On Thursday morning, the majority of staff made it into work by walking, cycling or car, after some challenging conditions.

Key operational roads around the port, and all major gate entrances were cleared so that lorries could be loaded and safely moved out.

In addition, the popular public footpath over the lock gates to the beach was quickly swept and salted to enable safe access.

Rodney Lunn Chief Executive commented, "I would like to thank all the staff for keeping the port open and operational, as this shows that our customers can rely on us, no matter how bad the weather or circumstances are "
