Shoreham Port are delighted to advise that Sara Bassett has been promoted to Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive.

The Port is a key economic driver for the local and regional economy and has been at the heart of the community for over 250 years. Over the past five years the Port has seen considerable growth and diversification, increasing turnover by 29% and investing over £23million back into the Port.

Not only is the Port investing in essential infrastructure, it is also investing in new equipment, such as a new crane, pilot boat and warehouse, so that the first class service to its customers can be maintained.

Given the ongoing need for strategic financial planning and tight financial governance, Sara was well placed to take on the additional responsibilities to support the Chief Executive and Board. Sara joined the Port in 2007, initially as Financial Controller before being promoted to Finance Director in 2011. Sara has a wealth of business experience, particularly in financial services, combined more latterly with industry specific knowledge, enhanced by her role as Treasurer of the British Ports Association.

Sara Bassett said “I am delighted to accept the position and look forward to building on my experience and increasing my involvement in the running of the Port. 2014 has got off to a great start with many interesting and unique projects underway already. I look forward to taking on the challenges of this role and seeing the Port go from strength to strength.”

Rodney Lunn, Chief Executive commented “I am delighted Sara has been formally appointed as the Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive and look forward to working with her in the new role. Delivering excellence to our valued customers remains our key priority and Sara will play a pivotal part in ensuring that investment decisions are made to continue this high level of service.”
