As a Trust Port, Shoreham Port offers regular support to charitable causes within its local community. This December, the Port is delighted to be supporting the Samaritans Brighton & Hove as their Christmas Charity.

The Samaritans exist to serve the community by providing crucial support to those that are vulnerable within society. As well as the core Samaritan listening service that the charity provides from their centre in Hove, the charity gives talks in Brighton and Hove for a variety of organisations including local schools, and trained listeners to support prisoners who are in emotional distress.

The Port has donated to the charity and will be contributing all proceeds from its annual Christmas Jumper Day which is taking place today. A number of festive favourites have been on show, brightening up the office and spreading the Christmas cheer.

Rodney Lunn, Chief Executive at Shoreham Port commented “We were very keen to support the Samaritans this year. Christmas can be a very difficult time for some people and the Samaritans do an incredible job offering support in their time of need. Our Christmas Jumper Day has become a firm favourite in our calendar. We have a great day fundraising for very worthy causes and we look forward to passing on any proceeds raised to the charity.”

A representative from the Samaritan’s Brighton & Hove commented “Thank you so much to Shoreham Port for their support, which is so valued and appreciated. We wish you a merry Christmas and a peaceful new year.”
