Last Friday staff at Shoreham Port pulled out their favourite pink clothing in support of Wear it Pink. This annual fundraising day provides vital support for Breast Cancer Now, a national charity that is dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease.
Breast Cancer Now carries out cutting-edge research which is focused entirely on breast cancer. They have already made enormous progress in understanding the disease. Their research is focused on four key areas – risk and prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment and secondary breast cancer.
The charity believes this approach to research will allow them to achieve their ambition and stop breast cancer taking lives by 2050.
Shoreham Port were invited to take part in Wear it Pink by the charity in September and wasted no time in encouraging staff to pull out their pink attire. On display were a number of pink ties, shirts and even illuminous pink socks!
Katie Orchin, Marketing & Communications Executive at Shoreham Port commented “The day was a great success and our staff raised £82 which was then match funded by the Port to make a total donation of £164 to Breast Cancer Now. This is such a worthwhile charity to support and a really fun event to be part of. I look forward to taking part again next year.”
