At the end of the summer Shoreham Port were contacted by St Nicolas and St Mary Primary School in Shoreham regarding their playground refurbishment project.
During the summer holidays parents, carers, staff and children came into the school one Saturday to start work on the rebuild of their playground castle and adventure trail.
The castle needed to be moved to a new location following recent developments at the school. The team worked incredibly hard all day, moving wood, preparing the ground and putting the castle back together. There was however one problem, the school did not have safety flooring for the area beneath the castle.
After discussing the project with Shoreham Port’s Corporate Social Responsibility Group, the Port was delighted to offer the school a donation to fund the flooring.
Katie MacAllister, Marketing & Communications Manager at Shoreham Port commented “The team at St Nicolas & St Mary’s worked so hard on the playground over the summer and we were so pleased to be able to help them complete the project. Playgrounds are a vital part of school life and it is fantastic to see the flooring laid and the castle being enjoyed by the pupils.”
Hayley Edmondson, School Business Manager at St Nicolas and St Mary Primary School added “A huge thank you to Shoreham Port for their generous donation towards our castle project. It would have been such a shame to have spent all that time rebuilding the castle, to then not be able to finish the project and re-open the playground. The children absolutely love it and I am sure the playground will be enjoyed for years to come.”
