DIVING AT WORK REGULATIONS 1997

Notice is hereby given that all diving operations in the port of Shoreham must meet the requirements of the Diving at Work Regulations 1997. In addition, under Shoreham Port's Safety Management System, no diving whatsoever is allowed on vessels in the tidal areas of the port. Should a vessel in these areas require divers the vessel should be moved either into the canal or out to sea.

The Diving contractor has the main responsibility under the Diving Regulations for ensuring that a safe diving project is carried out and for ensuring that all parts of a diving project are managed in such a way to ensure the safety of the people involved in it.

Shoreham Port Authority requires all approved diving contractors, intending to carry out commercial diving operations within Shoreham Port Authority Limits to obtain a permit to dive from the Harbour Master prior to the commencement of operations.
