We’re delighted to announce that integral customer of the Port, MDM Timber, a valued commercial partner for over three decades is sponsoring a point on our new family friendly walking trail, Anchor Points.

This point in the trail marks our two Lock Gates and the information board found there details some of their history. Our family mascot Delmar the Dolphin also asks children what vessels they can spot passing through the gates, and encourages them to scan the QR code to find out what vessels visit our Port, what cargo they are carrying and where they are going next! Our new cafe Port Kitchen is now open where families can collect a map of the trail which also doubles as a colouring sheet.

We have a variety of cargoes here at Shoreham Port including timber, steel, aggregates, bulks and glass, as well as petroleum, woodchip and cereals. One of our major and longest standing partners is MDM Timber, who have been importing their timber into Shoreham for many years. As our largest timber customer holding the widest product range, our partnership with MDM Timber is an integral part of our historic operations as well as our future growth.

MDM Timber are a major UK importer and distributer of forest products fully certified in PEFC and FSC sustainable forest managed supply.

Purchasing Director of MDM Timber Ken Fuller said “We have been a customer of the Port for 33 years since the company was formed in 1989, and have seen year on year successful growth with the Port’s full support. Over the years new technology has been introduced and we have evolved together in many ways.

“The last two years have been very challenging for everyone but we have battled through it together and we look forward to many more years of our successful relationship.”

Samantha Woskett, Head of Customer Relations and Logistics at Shoreham Port said “I have had the pleasure of working alongside MDM for eight years now, developing the operation between our organisations and delivering continuous improvement as our collective operations have evolved. More recently as MDM’s port partner, we have together navigated the logistical challenges of the last 2 years, working shoulder to shoulder to service record volumes for MDM. I look forward to continuing to provide a vital logistics service for this valuable customer for many years to come.”
