Shoreham Port have been working with EH Hassell and Sons and Sennebogen Cranes for the supply of a new crane, an 880 special Classic Mobile and also working with Santander on asset financing for the machine. With the Port being busier than ever and with cargo imports on the rise, it is essential that Shoreham has the right equipment to accommodate their growing cargo portfolio.
It was decided in 2014 that a fifth crane was needed to carry out the additional work load. The new crane will be joining the Port’s current fleet of two Sennebogen 870 Special Mobile – 24.2 Ton lift capacity cranes, one 880 EQ Tracked – 38.3 Ton lift capacity crane and one 880 Classic Mobile – 33.1 Ton lift capacity crane.
The new high specification crane has been designed to perform a number of complicated tasks. With a lifting capacity of 35.8 tonne the crane will be used to handle a variety of cargoes including timber, steel, bulk cargoes and biomass.
Alan Motterham, Commercial/Operations Director at Shoreham Port commented “We would like to thank EH Hassell and Sons, the UK distributor for Sennebogen cranes, for their professionalism during the purchase, Sennebogen cranes themselves for providing us with a fantastic crane designed exactly to our specification and delivered on time to the day; and finally Santander, for their assistance in financing the purchase of the crane.”
Alan continued “As you can see, from just passing the Port from the A259, our terminals are all fully stocked and we are utilising every bit of space available. The delivery of the crane will enable our team to perform safe and efficient loading and discharging of cargo, ensuring that our customers have a quick turnaround time at Shoreham.”
Ian Hassell, Managing Director of EH Hassell and Sons commented “We are very proud of our ten year relationship with Shoreham Port. The supply of this new machine is further proof that we provide Shoreham Port with the perfect solution for their special requirements and application, helping to support their continued growth.”
Robert Aumüller, Sales Manager Northern Europe for Sennebogen Cranes commented “Everyone within Sennebogen is aware of Shoreham Port and our continued relationship. Along with our dealer (EH Hassell and Sons) we project managed the new machine from the initial discussions through to delivery on site, once again we would like to thank Shoreham Port for their business.”
David Pearce, Relationship Director at Santander added “Shoreham Port is at the heart of the surrounding community and is a key driver of the local economy. We are absolutely delighted to be working with them and supporting them with the acquisition of their new Crane, which will help ensure the Port maintains high levels of service to its customers.”
