Shoreham Port were delighted to receive the vessel 'MV Aspen' this week, having loaded from the Swedish port of Kristinehamn on Lake Vanern. It was the first vessel from the new Ahlmark service, connecting the lakes and North Sweden to the South East of England.
Shippers are showing strong support for this service, especially given Shoreham's central position in the south and the ability to provide a quick and efficient discharge using the most up to date modern Sennebogen hydraulic cranes. The port's stevedoring team discharged the vessel's full load of 2,647 cubic metres of timber, into sheds situated on our outer Lay-by terminal.
The Port's Commercial/Operations Director - Alan Motterham said "we are pleased that this vessel loaded and discharged to plan in week 7, showing commitment from both Ahlmark shipping and Shoreham Port to regular shipments on time from Sweden. We are looking forward to the next shipment on board the vessel 'MV Emsmoon' which is scheduled to arrive from the North east coast ports of Skellefehamn and Iggesund during week 9.
