Over the last few weeks artists have

taken their local Port by storm with a flurry of entries for the Port’s

Community Art Competition. In addition to the prize money the winner of the

Community Art Competition will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork

at Southwick Station, which will be viewed by the vast range of people that use

the station.

Sam Bryant, Sussex Community Rail

Partnership, said “with the deadline for Shoreham Port’s Community Art

Competition approaching, I am really looking forward to seeing the

winning pieces displayed at the station. Stations provide the perfect

'gallery' for artwork and work from the local community is by far the best work

to display in them."

The theme of the competition is Shoreham

Port but the nature and type of work is up to the individual entrant. Any

medium can be used, provided it will be possible to take a digital copy of the

entry, as original artwork will be available for return to the artist after the

competition. The artwork should be submitted to Shoreham Port, located at

Nautilus House, 90 – 100 Albion Street, Southwick, Brighton, BN42 4ED.

Sara Bassett, Finance Director said “It

is wonderful to see the community out and about enjoying their local Port and

encapsulating their favourite part in their own creative way. So many people

pass through the Port on a daily basis yet the same landscape can look so

vastly different depending on the artist’s style. We look forward to receiving

the last few entries as the competition comes to a close”.

The competition is running until 31st

October so it’s not too late to get your creative thinking cap on for a chance

to take first prize! To find out more about the art competition or to discuss

your entry please call a member of the team at Shoreham Port on 01273 598100.
