Jim May, Chairman at Shoreham Port has been newly appointed Deputy Lieutenant in East Sussex. Jim and five other individuals have been invited to assist the Lord Lieutenant, Peter Field, in the execution of his duties in the County on behalf of HM The Queen.

Jim May lives in Brighton and plays a very active role in the local community and businesses. He has over 30 years commercial banking experience and is currently the Chairman of Shoreham Port, Sussex County Cricket Club and is a Non Executive Director with Rix and Kay Solicitors, as well as being a Governor of Brighton Aldridge Community Academy. Previous links with the local community included a spell as a Brighton Councillor and Non Excecutive Director with NHS Brighton & Hove.

Jim was appointed to the Board of Shoreham Port in 2006, became Deputy Chair in 2007 and was elected Chairman from January 2012.

I am a firm believer in the benefits to the Port’s many stakeholders that derive from Shoreham being a trust port, and this position will enable me to strengthen my ties and further my commitment to the local community”.
