Local depots around the Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey areas are taking delivery of road salt in preparation for sub-zero temperatures this winter. During July and August, Shoreham Port unloaded 15,000 tonnes of salt from ships coming from as far away as Spain and a further 6,000 tonnes of salt was discharged in just two days this month, with more supplies on their way.
The latest supplies have been unloaded in record time on the Port's brand new 16,000 square metre extension to our Brighton Terminal, known now as Rombus wharf. The next salt ship due to arrive at Rombus Wharf next weekend, is the MV Christina, carrying a further 4,500 tonnes of the precious commodity.
