SHOREHAM PORT PUBLISH 2019 ANNUAL REVIEW

This week marks the release of Shoreham Port’s Annual Review; a comprehensive overview of the Port’s commercial activities, community engagement and performance throughout the year of 2019. The digital review also features interesting and informative graphics and eye-catching photography of the Port environment.

The new review includes 2019 highlights such as the Port’s 6th year of being awarded EcoPort status, the completion of the Port’s two new enterprise centres, welcoming Barrett Steel to Fishersgate terminal, and Shoreham being named the number 1 scallop port in the UK, among many others.

In addition to the Port’s commercial activities, the review also showcases the Port’s ongoing commitment as a Trust Port to supporting their local community. Throughout the year, Shoreham Port donated time, resources, and financial help to a number of causes; from team voluntary days to delivering a community art project in partnership with the Sussex Community Rail Partnership, to their significant donation of £20,000 to The Gateway Centre, a school provision that aims to support the most vulnerable young people aged 10-16 within the local area.

The review also features the Port’s involvement in initiatives across the wider maritime sector, nominally the Port’s commitment to the Women In Maritime Charter and their development of a tailored action plan, as well as their involvement in the maritime educational programme Why Shipping Matters, which is designed to be delivered in primary schools to build interest in the shipping industry at an early age and grow understanding of its impact on the UK.

Tom Willis, Chief Executive commented “Our Annual Review is an effective way for us to reflect on another busy year at Shoreham Port. Looking to the year ahead, we will build on the Port’s great work in 2019 to diversify our revenue streams, enhance and continue to adapt the services we offer our customers and engage further with our community.”

Tom continued “Despite a range of challenges we are facing during 2020, our dedicated workforce and Senior Leadership Team, with the guidance of our experienced Board, continue to drive the Port forward. We’d like to thank our stakeholders for their continued support and look forward to continuing to work with our valued customers.”

Many of the topics included in the report will also be discussed at the Port’s virtual Public Meeting on 23rd June, as well as further detail into the Port’s updated masterplan and aims for the year ahead.
