PORT BUILDS COMMERCIAL UNITS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

Shoreham Port’s established property profile is set to grow further in the coming weeks, with the approval of the planning permission of Port’s third development site, Ferry Wharf, agreed on the Thursday of last week.

Construction on the new business units will begin on 18th November, with completion set for September 2020, further demonstrating Shoreham Port’s commitment to developing the local economy and creating jobs.

Working with a local team consisting of Pilbeam Construction, ECE Architecture and MacConvilles, Shoreham Port’s Ferry Wharf development will consist of a terrace of six commercial units set over two floors, with a mezzanine level and double-height entrances and a 1,500sqft of space in each unit. The design of the units is based on the demand from local small businesses and will match those completed at Hove Enterprise Centre.

Much like the Port’s recently developed sites such as Lady Bee Enterprise Centre and Hove Enterprise Centre Extension, the new units are sustainably designed and will feature solar panels supporting the Port’s commitment to renewable energy.

In addition, the Port will install electric vehicle charging points, cycle storage and on-site recycling storage facilities, as well as a reduction in the units’ water consumption through the use of practical and hygienic water saving measures such as flow restrictors, water efficient white goods and dual flush toilets.

Tim Hague, Director of Property and Development commented “We are delighted to have received planning permission for our new business units at Ferry Wharf last week. These six new commercial units will enable us to continue supporting business growth and jobs in the local area for many years to come.”

Tim continued “It’s fantastic to be collaborating again with local companies on this building, including Pilbeam Construction, ECE Architecture and MacConvilles. By autumn 2020 we will have completed 24 new business commercial units in 24 months – all featuring environmentally friendly features such as solar panels and electric car charging points.”
