Shoreham Port staff get festive to raise money for Sussex cancer fund

Shoreham Port offers regular support to charitable causes that benefit the local community. This month, the Port are pleased to be donating to the Sussex Cancer Fund as their Christmas Charity, and have been donning their best Christmas jumpers today to raise some well-deserved money for the organisation.

Sussex Cancer Fund is a local charity based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Established in 1981, the charity work with the NHS to create new and improved facilities, providing the best possible cancer care for people across Sussex.

Since then, over £3 million has been raised to make the Sussex Cancer Centre more attractive, comfortable and effective. Some of the achievements of the fund in recent years have been to refurbish patient areas, including an area for chemotherapy, clinic rooms, waiting areas, reception and access to the Sussex Cancer Centre.

Shoreham Port has donated to the charity and will be contributing all proceeds from its annual Christmas Jumper Day, taking place today. From bearded Santas to sparkling snowflakes, there have been plenty of festive jumpers spotted around the Port, as well as sweet treats to inspire some Christmas cheer.

Chief Executive at Shoreham Port, Rodney Lunn, commented “We are delighted to be supporting Sussex Cancer Fund this year. The charity does a great job helping so many people affected by cancer in the local area. Our Christmas Jumper Day has had an amazing response across the Port, and we look forward to donating all proceeds to such a valued charity.”
