First class facilities

Shoreham Port boasts a first class suite of services and facilities, which meet the needs of all port users. Some of the Port’s commercial facilities include:

• 42,000 square metres of covered warehouse
• Open storage areas in excess of 16 hectares
• A bulk-handling terminal
• 50 metre dry dock
• A range of maritime services including hydrographic survey, towage and diving etc

A comprehensive stevedoring service is provided by Sussex Port Forwarding Limited, the port’s stevedoring subsidiary. A large number of mobile cranes and forklift trucks are always available and additional capacity can be brought in when required.

A state of the art stock control system called ‘Track-a-Pack’ is in everyday use at the port. The system, which utilises bar code and radio frequency technology allows users to view up to date information about their inventory, enabling a ‘just in time’ delivery system to be adopted by customers and ensuring that stock movements are recorded with 100% accuracy.

The Port also provides office accommodation and light industrial start-up units to businesses, many of which are occupied by companies that offer services to the maritime industry.
