The Port Estate

Shoreham Port Authority owns a considerable commercial portfolio in addition to its own operational land and buildings. It has a wide mix of property and tenants. There are about 70 tenants on the estate altogether. These vary from small offices and light industrial units to large sites leased to major international firms. In terms of small business units there are three main locations within the port: Quayside House; Hove Enterprise Centre and Lady Bee Marina, providing accommodation for about 45 small businesses. These are on relatively short leases usually 3 years but can be up to 10 years. On average 5 properties become vacant each year for one reason or another. Generally these are let within a short period, reflecting the demand for small units in the wider Brighton area.

Sites are mostly used for port related activity with some exceptions. The main port related tenants include Hanson, Tarmac, B&N Fish Sales, Shoreham Silo Services, Texaco and Cemex. Parker Steel is the latest tenant located on Fishersgate Terminal. Other significant tenants include Scottish Power, Skip IT and Asphaltic Roofing.

Location

The Port is about 5 miles from the centre of Brighton accessed by A259 a long the seafront with good public transport - rail stations at Portslade, Southwick and Shoreham being close to the Port on the Brighton/Portsmouth line and the 700 bus service every 10 to 15 minutes.
