Shoreham Port has grown considerably in recent years and this has naturally led to an expansion across each sector of the business. Consequently there is more scope for the Port to offer apprenticeships to local people than ever before.

This month the Port welcomed three new apprentices to the Engineering team. Owen Fieldus will be undertaking a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship at Northbrook College, Jed Turner is starting an apprenticeship in Electrical Installation at City College and Daevid Ross will be embarking on a Maintenance Operations apprenticeship, also with City College.

The three new recruits will become fully immersed in port life over the coming months and will soon be able to add a variety of new skills to their CV’s. Carl Aichroth, Engineering Manager (Civils) commented “We are delighted to have taken on three new apprentices within the engineering department, they will work across all areas of engineering; becoming great assets to our growing team”.

Gary O'Neill, Engineering Manager (Mechanical and Electrical) commented “I am pleased to be able to pass on our expertise and knowledge to our keen new apprentices and look forward to guiding and mentoring them through their career at Shoreham Port”

With such a diverse team to work amongst the new additions were keen to get started this week with their respective mentors. Owen Fieldus commented “I am really grateful for the opportunity to work at the Port and am eager to get started”. Jed Turner added “The chance to work in such a diverse environment is brilliant and I’m looking forward to the opportunities ahead”. Daevid Ross said “I am excited to gain new skills and immerse myself in learning a new trade here at the Port”.
