This week Shoreham Port was pleased to host the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Sussex branch Independents Forum. The focus of the forum was to offer attendees top tips about business efficiency and to share best practice with one another. As a trust Port, Shoreham Port welcomes involvement with local business groups and stakeholders and was delighted to host the event.

The CIPD Sussex branch covers both East and West Sussex and is run by volunteers that are passionate about making sure that their members are well connected, with access to thought leaders and support developing their skills throughout their professional journey. The branch facilitates local networking opportunities and organises many popular continuing professional development events in a vast range of locations in the region.

The Independents Forum event took place in the Port’s board room, where more than twenty people were in attendance to network and learn about how to become more efficient and well organised when running their own businesses or establishing themselves.

The speakers for the evening were the founders of the Sussex PA Network, Ester Dawson and Emily Darnell, who provided a valuable insight to help independents to ‘be their own PA’ and as a result become more efficient and organised in their roles. Emily said “Esther and I were delighted to be asked to speak at the CIPD Sussex Independents Forum at Shoreham Port. It was a great event and a lovely venue. Everyone was really welcoming and really got involved with our presentation. We were all able to learn some tips and tricks on being professional and efficient from each other. A massive thank you to Shoreham Port for their fantastic hospitality.”

Jacquie Findlay, Chair of CIPD Sussex commented “It is brilliant to have the support of a significant local employer. A massive thank you to Shoreham Port for facilitating this event and hosting our members. The evening was a great success and we hope to return to Shoreham Port again in future.”
