SHOREHAM PORT APPOINTS LOCAL BUSINESSMAN AS NEW CHAIRMAN

Shoreham Port are pleased to announce the formal appointment of Jim May as Chairman of the Board, having been unanimously voted in at the first Board meeting in January, for a three year term.

Jim is very familiar with Shoreham Port and the local area having served on the Board since 2006 as a Non-Executive Director and as Deputy Chairman since 2007. In addition, Jim is also the Chairman of Sussex County Cricket Club and a Non-Executive Director with Rix and Kay solicitors. He lives in Brighton and has many links with the local community, including a spell as a Brighton Councillor, as well as being a former Managing Director with RBS Commercial Banking.

Jim May commented “I am very proud to be taking over as Chairman as we face 2012 with confidence. The Port is vibrant and winning business in a challenging environment. It has an established reputation for service quality which has meant blue chip customers like Accelor Mittal and Stobarts moving business to Shoreham in 2011. In addition, Ahlmark a Swedish shipping company transferred all their southern terminal operations to the port last year. I look forward to maintaining Shoreham’s Trust port status, which is essential, whilst working with the Board, Management team and our stakeholders to continue this positive growth”.

Rodney Lunn, Chief Executive of Shoreham Port said “ we are delighted that Jim May has been elected to the Chair, as not only can he bring his very strong business acumen to bear, but also build and enhance our links within the local community. Shoreham Port is going through a very exciting phase and Jim has excellent local contacts which will assist this growth”.
