TIMBER ARRIVING AT PORT AFTER FINLAND DOCK STRIKE ENDS

After the two week dock worker's strike in March, Finnish imports are starting to get back to normal with 15,000 cubic metres of timber booked for arrival at Shoreham Port so far during April.  However, Alan Motterham, Operations Director says "shipping lines are still experiencing problems with ice and many vessels are still dependant on ice breakers to escort them in and out of the Baltic ports. With the weather set to improve Shoreham Port is looking forward to catching up with the back log of cargo over the next few weeks.  Aggregates and other bulk materials have performed very well in comparison to budgeted levels, and the Port has received an unusually high number of new business enquiries, which we expect to continue throughout the year."
