All reports to Shoreham Port are taken very seriously and will be investigated.

To demonstrate the Port's commitment to maritime safety and ensure the involvement of harbour users, a monthly marine safety report will be published.

Workboat obstructing the mooring lines of a commercial vessel.

Vessels Agent was informed and the workboat was moved.

Erosion of quay surface material

20/01/2018

Divers surveyed the quays sheet piling; no holes were found. Team also filled in the uneven surface at the time of the survey.

Commercial vessel lost propulsion from one engine whilst departing the lock for sea.

26/01/2018

Pilot requested counter measures were made ready, and the vessel was able to manoeuvre using the single engine without further incident.

Undeclared defect on a commercial vessel due to enter port.

28/01/2018

Vessel was returned to the anchorage until the defect was rectified.

Vessel’s master was contacted via shipping agents and was advised of the incident. Non-slip paint has been applied to the steps.
