Shoreham Port’s own Operations Sector discharge bulk cargoes for various customers and use modern, fast discharging cranes with 4 cubic metre Clamshell grab buckets. Vessels are trimmed as required and the discharge rates are dependent on vessel and density of product but range from 280 tonnes to 460 tonnes per hour per crane.
The Port’s experience and facilities mean it can offer a wide range of services to the customer, where it’s efficient and well-trained team can provide a comprehensive package of loading and unloading of vessels and distribution of the cargo.
There is a dedicated bulk handling terminal which is bunded and fitted with a sprinkler system for dust suppression which has been designed to meet the Port’s ongoing commitment to environmental management.
The Port regularly discharges a wide range of products to service local manufacturers and authorities. Consignments of coated stone, pumice, marble, road salt, and aggregates are shipped in from around the world and discharged at various berths around the Port. The private terminals include Tarmac, Cemex, Dudman, Minelco and Kendalls.
